My first real summer vacation since high school has been wonderful. I've been able to spend my time freely with softball, on Utah Lake, in Seattle and Portland, making home improvements, and time in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
In June, I drove up to Seattle and Mama Sue wasn't so sure about me going all the way through in one day. I was by myself but it was honestly not bad at all. I made good timing and had the good tunes playing. I was excited to see my BFF Sara and her family and just had a good time in the Emerald City.
Portland was a lot of fun too. I really do love that area and the softball tournament we played in was good. We didn't play as well as I would have liked, but it was still fun to go to an out of state tournament.
Steamboat is an interesting ski town. There's not much to do there except ski, so in the summertime, it's limited on what it has to offer. We spent a lot of time in the hotel room or at the softball diamonds. At least it didn't take a long time to get to the fields.
Lagoon...it's what fun is, right? I decided to get a season pass this summer--the first time I've ever owned one--and it's been put to use. My sister Melissa is the attendance secretary for Bonneville HS and has the summer off too. It worked out perfectly to get the passes for ourselves and Haylie and Mikaela. They love it so much and it's fun to spend time with them. Haylie likes that she's tall enough to go on the big rides and is glad I'm around to take her with me on them. Poor Mikaela--that kid just isn't tall enough yet to go on them. I know she would go with me if she could though. Haylie's a wuss about Terror Ride and Dracula's Castle, but Mikaela loves them! She's an easy kid to please. :)
And I'm not going to lie, sleeping in is the best! It might be a little hard to get up and be to school by 7 come a few more days, but knowing that I have summer vacation for the rest of my career is magical!
